Why Needle Felting?
I love the versatility of pure wool.
Hello, I'm Sarah; a self taught fibre artist and tutor, based in the Cotswolds UK. I started needle felting as a hobby when I was looking for a craft that was easy to pick up and put away, as I had a young child and not much free time. I instantly fell in love with this amazing and very versatile art form. That was over 15 years ago, and I'm still poking wool! Felting offers endless opportunities to sculpt, decorate and embellish; and it’s wonderful that each and every object I or my students create is unique. Working with wool usually throws up surprises, is sometimes challenging, but always rewarding.
In 2016, I became a felting tutor by accident. After a couple of classes I taught at my local craft group were so popular; I got asked to do more and more. Seeing my passion for the medium and my enjoyment of sharing my craft, a friend encouraged me to develop this into a small business. I now teach classes at many venues around Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire and Wiltshire; work with several charities and community groups, and also design needle felting kits. I am a member of the International Feltmakers Association, and the West OxArts Gallery.
